The Georgia Department of Transportation is advising motorists on US 27/State Route (SR1) in Chattooga County of a single lane closure scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, November 15 and 16. A traffic lane of US 27 between SR 114 and SR 48 in Chattooga County will be closed this weekend to allow Chattooga & Chickamauga Railroad to install concrete panels on the crossing at that location. This railroad crossing operation and the lane closure it necessitates are weather permitting and subject to change. `We understand that the closure of Highway 27 at this location may cause some inconvenience and delays, but it is necessary for repairing the crossing as quickly as possible and giving the roadway back to local traffic and traveling public,” explained DeWayne Comer, district engineer at the Georgia DOT office in Cartersville.
