The German "Künstlersozialkasse" (KSK) is in danger. In an open letter, the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce criticises it and demands its closure, even though an average insurant of the KSK earns less than 1000€ a month. This institution gives freelance authors and artists access to the social security system of regular employees. The artist is required to pay the employee’s contribution only. The employer’s contribution is payed for by the artists’ social fund, which is financed by companies benefitting from any artistic work or services. Read more here (in german):
