The Gila National Forest will hold a public meeting to provide an update on the Signal Fire Monday evening at 6 p.m. at the Grant County Business and Conference Center. The fire, which was reported by the Signal Peak fire lookout just after 3 p.m. Sunday, was estimated to have grown to 3,000 acres in one day. According to the Forest Service, a Type II Incident Management Team is scheduled to assume command of the fire at 6 p.m. this evening. An update on the meeting will be posted at scdailypress this evening, and there will be full coverage in Tuesdays Silver City Daily Press.
