The Goddess (Athena) entrusts Him to the Bacchae of Eleusis; crowned with ivy, the Nymphs of Marathon dance around the boy Iakchos, lifting the Attic torch in the nightly dances for the deity lately born. They honours Him as a God, next after the son of Persephoneia [Zagreus], and after Semeles son; they establish sacrifices for Lyaios late born and for Dionysos first born, and third they sing a new hymn for Iakchos, third arrived. In this threefold celebrations Athens held high bacchic revel; in the dance long waited for, the Athenians beat the step. honouring Zagreus and Bromios and Iakchos all together. (Nonnus, Dionysiaca 48. 848) (Two images of Dionysos from Corinth, and Iakchos, detail from the Ninnion tablet from Eleusis)
