The Gorkhas from Dehradun - Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi would like to request the leaders of Gorkhaland movement - Shri. Bimal Gurung, Shri. Roshan Giri (GJM), Shri. Jaswant Singh (MP, Darjeeling and BJP member), Dr. Enos Das Pradhan (BhaGoPa), Mr. R B Rai (CPRM), Mr. Rajesh Lakra (JMM) and other politicians... And our Intellectuals like Dr. Mahendra P Lama, Prof. amar Rai, Prof. Munish Tamang, Mr. Joel Rai, Mr. Swaraj Thapa to call for a nation wide movement for Gorkhaland. We heard from various sources - mostly social media, that over 700 of our brothers and sisters have been arrested and put in jail, away from Darjeeling... This is a gross violation of their fundamental rights and the Bengal Government should not be allowed to crush a democratic movement in such a brutal and fascist manner. Given the fact that the national media has by and large not bothered with reporting the Gorkhaland issue, and nothing about the hunger strikes or the atrocities meted out by the West Bengal government has been reported in the national media, it is important and imperative that the cause of Gorkhaland be made the focus of the nation, as soon as possible. The easiest way to do it is by organizing a massive rally in cities like Delhi and Kolkata, where majority of the Indian and the world media are based. I request all the political parties and leaders associated with Gorkhaland movement to organize a massive rally in support of Gorkhaland in Delhi. Which needs to be led by Darjeeling MP Mr. Jaswant Singh, as only then will the national media take note. Given adequate notice, we are even willing to travel from Dehradun to Delhi, we will also help in spreading the word amongst the individuals, politicians and organizations that are in favour of Gorkhaland, so that even they can join the movement. Gorkhaland is a necessity and even the politicians in Delhi understand this, but the buzz needs to be created all over India and for that we need to highlight the issue of Gorkhaland at a national level. The people of Uttarakhand, especially the Gorkhali community wish you all the best, and we hope you will heed to our request. Jai Mahakali!! Jai Hind!!
