The Gospel reveals a Christ who is before all things and who upholds all things by His powerful word. The Jesus of the Gospel is not a Jesus who becomes a part of your life upon your acceptance of Him. No, Hes the very definition of who you are! Therefore, the Gospel doesnt merely redeem your present moment, in the hope of producing a glorious future, but reaches back even into your past, and redeems every moment and memory, revealing that even in those times when you most felt like an orphan, you were included and beloved. That in every experience of abandonment and felt orphan-ness, He was there, upholding and loving you. The Gospel is not just the cancellation of your past, but a reworking of it! The I-Am-ness of Jesus swallows up your entire existence and presents you with the eternal truth - that you never have been, are not now, and never will be, anything less than a beloved child of the Godhead.
