The Graduate School of Excellence ‘JSMC’ invites applications for a Doctoral Researcher Position TV-L E13 65% (Ref.No. 106/2014) Symbiosis-specific exudate components from the beneficial root-colonizing fungus Piriformospora indica and Arabidopsis thaliana We study the symbiotic interaction between the beneficial root-colonizing fungus Piriformospora indica and Arabidopsis. The goal of this project is to identify symbiosis-specific proteins, peptides and metabolomic compounds, which are specifically released into the media during co-cultivation. These compounds will be further analysed with genetic and biochemical tools. Furthermore, P. indica strongly inhibits growth of several pathogenic fungi, both in culture and nature. The growth-inhibiting compound which is also released into the medium should be identified.
