The Greater Mayfair Civic Association / Greater Mayfair Safety and Security / Buraq Riders Smc in association with the PSA and BDS will be holding a Gaza Solidarity Day event on Saturday the 26th of July 2014. As part of the programme GMCA / GMSS will hold a collection drive in the various suburbs comprising Ward 58 from 10h00 to 13h00. Volunteers are more than welcome to join this initiative volunteers to meet at outside saleys bakery at 9:30 am . All proceeds will be handed over to a representative of the PSA who will ensure that the moneys are distributed to the victims of the latest Zionist onslaught on Gaza. At around 13h30 a GMSS / GMCA motor vehicle cavalcade will commence at the Crosby Grounds Jamestown Avenue and make its way through the suburbs comprising Ward 58. Thereafter at around 14h00 Buraq Riders will commence a drive through starting in Zoo Lake and working its way through some of the Northern suburbs of Johannesburg. This drive through will be led by the bikers of Buraq but motor vehicles are more than welcome to join. Thereafter both cavalcades will join up in Solomon Street outside Braamfontein Station and proceed to Jubileum Park 3rd Avenue Mayfair where the various participants will be addressed by representatives of various community organisations and others. Prayers will be offered by representatives of the major religions represented in Ward 58. The Muslim participants will thereafter partake in a mass Asr prayer. We however wish to stress the non religious non denominational and non political nature of this event.
