The Greene Street United Methodist Men have announced that the Dick Sword Memorial Pancake and Sausage Breakfast will be held on Saturday, January 31, at the church (415 West Greene Street, Piqua). The first pancakes will be served at 7:00 a.m. The breakfast will conclude at 11:30 a.m. Sword was a long-time member of Greene Street Methodist Church. For some years, he headed the Greene Street United Methodist Men. “The pancake breakfast was his idea,” current member Bill Carter stated. “When he passed away, it seemed appropriate to name the event in his honor.” Sword, a 1942 graduate of Piqua Central High School, served in the U.S. Army in World War II. Upon his return, he obtained his teaching degree from Ohio Wesleyan University. He taught briefly in Piqua City School before joining Aerovent Fan. He became Vice President of Sales, retiring in 1985. More... thepiquapost/memorial-pancake-breakfast-planned/ (Photos provided)
