The Hague - The International Criminal Court judges have questioned whether Kenya’s withdrawal from the Rome Statute would be a threat to the safety of witnesses. ICC prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, had raised concerns over the decision saying that the prosecution witnesses were pulling out of the case because their safety was not guaranteed should Kenya succeed in pulling out of the statute, The Standard reports. The prosecution and the victims’ lawyer, Wilfred Nderitu, were later instructed to inform the court on the resulting effects on the witnesses should Kenya withdraw its membership.
