The Heryford Ranch story was really interesting, but , to summarize it, They came to the area in 1872,,,went from 4 brothers to two. Eventually owned from the Chewaucan Valley to the head of the Goose Lake Valley... after selling all their land, 40,000 acres, to the Oregon Valley Land Company (who started the whole, Fairport adventure in New Pine Creek), in 1910..In 1913, two of the brothers, built the 3 story building as a memorial for their appreciation of their blessings in Lake County..William died in 1919 and James in 1937.. Side note-James married Evelyn Hotchkiss who was related to both Russ and I...:)
