The High of Line Steenwijk While traveling by train to Giethoorn, you will arrive in Steenwijk. Steenwijk is a small fortified city with city walls that are still intact and very much visible. These walls, now covered in grass, are about 4.5m high. Standing on them you can look down on the city of Steenwijk, they provide a nice view. The High Line of Steenwijk. In the center you can visit several shops, or for instance the Circus Museum in the Onnastraat with in the courtyard a lovely carrousel. Make sure to pay a visit to Villa Rams Woerthe, built in 1899 in Jugendstil with a beautiful green iron gate, a exhibition of the famous Amsterdam city sculptor Hildo Krop (born in Steenwijk) and a public park made to look like an English landscape. After walking around in the park you can take bus 70 to Giethoorn-Centrum (get off at the Hylkemaweg). The nearest bus stop to the park is at Gasthuislaan 2.
