The Holy Dubious Act The above caption sound ironic but the choice was deliberate, since I felt this is the best way to describe the nature of man (all of us), especially those of us that claim to have attained some moral standards in life. What is the Holy Dubious Act? I will go straight to the point; It is an act of asking for forgiveness or offering words of apology without any intention to repent or change ones attitude and wrong actions. Uhmmm… Lord have mercy! Isn’t that what we do to God every time? We go to Him to ask for forgiveness from sin while in our heart we do not really have any intention whatsoever to repent. But read what the Bible says: “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;” Acts 3:19. And Jesus categorically indicated in Luke 13:5 with an objective voice; “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” It is clearly stated, repent and be converted, then your sins (wrongs) will be eliminated. But this is not the action with us. We are only after asking for forgiveness for the wrong we have already committed; so as to escape punishment or make peace. This act is what happens in marriage also. The wife offends her husband and after argument, in her wisdom, she feels there need to sustain peace in her home, so she goes and ask for forgiveness. But the issue cannot be truly resolved for as long as she would continue in the grieving ways. Likewise husband to his wife. The advice today is this, to make progress in life, don’t just ask for forgiveness from God or people without adding repentance (that is correct your ways and put things right). When you learn to put things right in your life, thing will always work right in your favour. Thanks. Good morning!
