The Holy Spirit speaking to my heart on December 9th, 2012 "THE CALLING" I knew it was the Holy Spirit waking me up this morning, around 3:30am. I also knew that I had to fight my flesh and arise, and begin a quiet time with Jesus, knowing that He was going to reveal Himself to me, somehow. As I began in silence, waiting on Him, I found myself repenting of my sins. Then it seemed the sufferings of His cross and passion came before the eyes of my heart. Jesus was giving me brief glimpses into His suffering. I saw Him carrying His cross, and I knew He was in such grief and pain. Again, I had to repent, knowing that my sins took Him to His suffering, took Him to the Cross, my sins caused Him to pour out His holy life by the shedding of His precious blood. Then a word began coming to my mind and into my heart. I saw in my heart, the word, “calling”. Still, I waited quietly, not wanting to leave this place and time with Him. But, He urged me to get up and begin a study of His Word; that I might ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to me the value of our calling. Yes, we should be able to know to realize our specific calling, in our lives. We need to come to this understanding. But, this was not the reason for the Spirit’s leading this morning, in my life. He wanted me to have revelation of the value of the calling He places upon our lives; and how seriously He takes our calling. From the beginning, we must place deeply in the depths of our souls, that “ God’s gifts and calling can never be withdrawn.” We have lost this understanding. All too frequently, man looks to those who have been called of God, yet have fallen from His grace. Our immediate thoughts are, how could God have called such a person? The Lord showed me that His riches are so great; as is His wisdom and knowledge. How impossible it is for us to understand His decisions and His ways! Who can know the thoughts of God? But, this was impressed deep within my heart this morning. We are His bondservants, called for serving the Lord God. Paul knew this, and he begged the Church to lead a life worthy of the calling, for you have been called by God! Then He opened the eyes of my heart wider, and showed me that for any of us to abandon the call, or to not fulfill the call- is sin! Hear the word of God, found in Lev. 5:1, ““If you are called to testify about something you have seen or know about, it is sinful to refuse to testify.” To not answer the call, will result in punishment! How serious is God’s calling upon our lives! He suffered so. He died a horrible death on the Cross. He that descended, also ascended. Through His death, we were now blessed with His calling upon our lives. Our calling was paid with the blood of Jesus. How can we ever neglect such a love? Lord, let none of us place our own lives above and before Your calling upon our lives. Let us be as a Fig Tree that bears fruit, pleasing to You, my Lord; so long as we live upon this earth. Let nothing, or anyone, keep us from Your calling upon our lives. By Your Spirit, may we keep our eyes heavenward, keep our eyes on the prize of our high calling. Our calling is covered with Your precious love, flowing from Your blood. Burn this into your hearts, forever! Now I realize that His waking me up this morning, was that I might know the intimacy of His suffering; that I might grasp the price He paid -that we may be found worthy of His calling. How can we ever put it down? How can we ever turn our backs to His calling upon our lives? God have mercy upon me, for all the times I did so! I never considered the marriage of Your suffering and your calling upon my life.
