The House of the Devil: The best 80s horror movie, and it wasnt even made in that decade. The way this was made to seem like a genuine movie from the 1980s is awesome, but the film itself falls a little flat. It has a suspenseful, albeit slow, build-up in the second act, but the climax is rather unsatisfying. ★★ On the Waterfront: Powerful drama about a union boss who rules through intimidation and murder, only to be brought down by one of his own. While Marlon Brandos is revered, I personally think Karl Malden--as Father Barry--gave the superior performance, depicting a courageous priest encouraging the union members to take a stand. ★★★.5
