The IRS sent me a notice that I owe $2435.16 for my 2007 business taxes. No explanation as to why I owed them just that I did. I spent over an hour on the phone and they admitted that they mistakenly started a 2nd company of the same name but with a different ID number so my filings didnt get noted on the ID number. So they waived the penalty of $2040. However, now I have to write a letter and spend the next 60 days waiting to see they will waive the additional $395.16. Why? Because the department I spoke with can only waive penalties and not interest. So instead of being bitter I am going to say that the IRS just me $2040 and hour to sit on the phone. Thank you. Feel free to call me as often as you want.
