The ISS Progress 54 cargo craft launched at 11:23 a.m. EST (10:23 p.m. local time in Baikonur) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Less than 10 minutes later, the resupply ship reached preliminary orbit and deployed its solar arrays and navigational antennas as planned. At the time of launch, the International Space Station was flying about 260 miles over far western Kazakhstan, near the Russian border close to Volgograd, Russia. NASA Television will provide live coverage of Progress 54s docking to the space stations Pirs Dockign Compartment beginning at 4:45 p.m. this afternoon. Docking is scheduled for 5:25 p.m. Watch live on NASA TV: nasa.gov/nasatv. The cargo craft is loaded with 2.8 tons of food, fuel and supplies, including 1,764 pounds of propellant, 110 pounds of oxygen, 926 pounds of water and 2,897 pounds of spare parts, experiment hardware and other supplies for the Expedition 38 crew.
