The Independence Day !!! They say: “Happy Independence Day!” - TopicsExpress

The Independence Day !!! They say: “Happy Independence Day!” “I reciprocate the same.” This wish brings a ‘happy’ sort of feeling to all of us. We begin to feel proud of being independent. Yes, we indeed are. We are independent because we are no more ruled by the British now – a sense of independence in body – no beating, no ‘lathicharge’, no victim of firing, no hanging to death by the British. But, what about the mind? Are our minds really independent? Many of us respond like this: “काहे की आज़ादी यार ? This, too, is not ignorable. The British Raj gave place to another Raj – the “Jungle Raaj” – crueler than its predecessor itself. The outsiders ruled India and looted it; the fact can, however, be digested by understanding that they were the outsiders and were here with that purpose only. But these ‘insiders’ are more dangerous. When the enemy is across the border, it is easy to fight; but when it is among ‘us’ only, an extra task – the toughest one – of identifying the enemy is also added to the fight. This waste of energy is a stumbling block in realizing the mission of a healthy, wealthy and prosperous India. Year after year, a huge amount of money is being spent on this – a fight with the ‘enemies inside’. In reality too, the real danger to the country, and more particularly to our hard-earned independence, is not from the forces across the borders but from ‘among us’ – to whom money and religion become more important than the nation. Or perhaps, ‘they’ have, in due course of time, learned and mastered the trick of befooling the citizens for their personal benefits; I have heard the older people saying: “अंग्रेज़ तो चले गये, अपनी औलादें छोड़ गये.” Not counting the types of corruption prevailing here, I just look forward to fellow countrymen to understand their duties towards the nation. It is the high time to rise in strength and show these few ‘inside enemies’ that the time is changing and so will the nation. Tagore’s dream of a country ‘where the mind is without fear and the head is held high’, seen a century ago, has not been materialized yet. Is it not our duty to make India what our great masters dreamed it to be? It is not the time to act peacefully; the anger should come out; it should come out as it did in ‘anti-corruption campaign’ a couple of years ago and as it did after the ‘Delhi gang rape case’. I think that is the only way out. “बुराई को मारने के लिए बुरा भी बनना पड़ता है”, and there is no bigger evil than that which ‘kills’ the country. The nation, once the ‘Golden Bird’, is in the cage of a few bastards. It is a high time not only to take an oath but also to act vigorously to set this bird free, to make India independent and ‘सारे जहाँ से अच्छा हिन्दोस्तां हमारा’ in real sense of the words. खत्म होगा अन्याय और अत्याचार बस, ह्रदय में क्रोध चाहिए … प्रतिशोध चाहिए, प्रतिशोध चाहिए…
