The Indian Supreme Court could spare hundreds of thousands of animals from brutal deaths in Nepal. The Gadhimai Festival is one of the largest slaughter festivals in the world — resulting in the violent slaughter of more than half a million animals in only two days. It can only be described as utter bloodshed. Intense public awareness campaigning by organisations such as Compassion in World Farming and the Animal Welfare Network Nepal (AWNN) has led to a huge swelling of international pressure to end the mass-slaughter and now — for perhaps the first time ever — there is real hope for change. Just days ago, the Supreme Court of India declared the festival demeaning and cruel and ordered an end to the export of animals into Nepal to be sacrificed! India is reported to supply up to 70% of the animals killed during the Gadhimai Festival — so by preventing animals from entering the country, not only could this decision save hundreds of thousands of animals from brutal sacrifice — but it could mean an end to the festival altogether (read more about this here: bit.ly/1wLgWMU). When caring people across the world unite for animals — incredible things can be achieved. Thats why we are calling for help from our friends from every corner of the globe! By contacting Australian embassies, you can encourage Australia to follow in the footsteps of India by refusing to supply animals to festivals that result in immense suffering and cruelty. Please join tens of thousands of others in taking action against Australias live animal export trade at BanLiveExport/crimes — and if you have any friends overseas please encourage them to do the same by tagging them in the comments below!
