The Institute of Lutheran Theology will begin a new Doctor of Ministry program, starting Fall 2015. The program will focus on “Reaching the Unreached.” “How do we reach the unreached in our secular age? The Institute of Lutheran Theology’s new Doctor of Ministry program addresses this question on a specifically Lutheran basis,” said Dr. Jonathan Sorum, Dean of Academic Affairs. “This program is dedicated to discerning and following the way of the cross, the way of following Jesus.” The program is built upon three theological foundations: engaging, proclaiming, and teaching. Students will be expected to complete five courses in ILT’s interactive (online) classroom, two summer missionary journeys, and a final project. “The program is for pastors with at least three years of continuous ministry experience who are committed to outreach and who want to be better equipped for that task. After students complete the program they will have a deeper theological insights into the task of reaching the unreached with the gospel, a better understanding of our twenty-first century North American context, and a clearer direction for how to shape their ministry in order to reach the unreached.” The total tuition cost for the entire three-year Doctor of Ministry program will be $9,360, comparatively lower than similar programs from other seminaries.
