The Intermittent Fasting Intermittent fasting helps to kill many - TopicsExpress

The Intermittent Fasting Intermittent fasting helps to kill many pathogens ( for autophagy ) , increases longevity and improves health . Fasting is an effective way to improve immunity against intracellular pathogens . But fasting should be brief and less than 24 hours. It better to fast often , but not for long. Fast long can also interfere with the circadian rhythms that are supported by the daily consumption of food. I believe that fasting for 16-18 hours is best . It short enough that it can be repeated on a daily basis , but long enough to result in elevated levels of autophagy . The population of the Kitivan (Papua and New Guinea ), which is used to fast every day , is known for its absence of disease . Fasting can increase levels of cortisol ( the stress hormone ) , catabolic hormone that , in turn, increases the levels of blood sugar ( glucose) , which creates some problems regulating blood sugar levels in people already under stress. Indeed, there is a complex relationship between blood sugar and hormones such as cortisol , glucagon, epinephrine, norepinephrine , melatonin and growth hormone, and hormonal imbalances can alterate blood sugar levels . It is therefore necessary to consider the condition of the adrenal when you start fasting if we are generally stressed, lack of sleep or too tired physically then intermittent fasting should be avoided at least until all these factors have not been normalized. In short, intermittent fasting is healthy . But in order for this practice ports of additional benefits to our health , it is necessary that all the basic functions ( nutrition, sleep , exercise , stress management ) are perfectly in order. Otherwise, the risk is just to add more stress and worsen the overall situation. Dr. Ulisse Franciosi - Italy
