The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has expressed concern about the purchase of a new presidential plane in Mali, Jeune Afrique reports. An IMF spokesperson says the Boeing airplane cost 40 million dollars and that the transaction shows the country’s weaknesses in managing public funds. In 2013, the IMF lent 33 million dollars to help Malis finances, says the report, and in December it agreed to facilitate another 46 million dollars as a loan to help fight corruption and combat poverty within the next three years. What is your view? How is money borrowed from international organisations managed where you live?
