The Inverted ‘Y’: The Key to True Abundance I am a movie - TopicsExpress

The Inverted ‘Y’: The Key to True Abundance I am a movie addict. No, don’t cry for me. I am actually getting better. I’m a tad more disciplined, now. I start work at 7 am. Put in about 12 hours each working day. So, if I decide to watch (or re-watch) a movie at the end of the day, who can blame me? Would you? I often ‘study’ my movies, so, it is not unusual to watch a movie about 4 times (or more). I’m sure there are more exciting things to do in the evening (like growing a pot belly from Beer)…but for now, leave me be. A few weeks ago, I’d hurry home to a NETFLIX production (not a movie, a drama)…with Kevin Spacey as the lead. It was enthralling. You don’t see too many people getting shot at, but it’s a magnetic story. Spacey’s character is not the type one would want to emulate. A man who used any means necessary to get want he wanted. He leveraged a sharp intellect. He used a cunning nature. He had a loyal ‘hitman’ who did his dirty work, and above all, he had a wife who was fully in support of his ambition (to become president of the U.S.)…and his methods. Machiavelli would have been proud of Spacey. He’s an attractive ‘gentleman’ who ostensibly was doing the best for the current president and his country. But, in reality, he was driven by his selfish ambitions. A while ago, I said one should not emulate Spacey. That is wrong, as I reflected more about his character; it dawned on me that one could. Why? He is not someone one should model, without some refinement. What I find compelling are his CLARITY and DEVOTION to his ambition. His CREATIVITY and PERSISTENCE in coming up with myriad methods for achieving his goal. He was undaunted by challenges. I do not support his methods. I thought: what if those who think they have noble aims could show that kind of commitment! What if they emulate the positives. A willingness to be fixated on the most important and noble goals, with the same kind of focus – it would transform us. Or, what do you think? You might be thinking: what’s the bit about the letter ‘Y’? It’s a simple picture that I have found helpful. So you’re seeing the letter Y in your mind, right? Turn it upside down. Okay. Well done. But, what does it represent? It is a simple, crude picture for the flow of POWER. The indescribable power of the ALMIGHTY streams into, animates, suffuses and pervades everything…and everyone. Imagine it flowing into you. It’s flowing into me, now. Unceasingly! My responsibility… and your responsibility is to channel it – to control where we’d like it to flow to. So, the vertical beam represents the power flowing into us, and the divergent beams stands for where we’d like to send it to. The right beam stands for positivity…and the left beam, for negativity. At any moment, we can decide the channel. It’s a gift-- The ability to decide. Right or left. It’s a simple picture, which I have found helpful. When we become fixated on always channeling the power into goodness -- we unleash chain reactions that lead to true abundance. Then, we become conduits for amazing experiences. Michael Newman
