The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office introduced the “SEAT BELT CONVINCER” this year at the Ionia Free Fair. The SEAT BELT CONVINCER was provided by the Michigan Sheriff’s Association and is sponsored by State Farm Insurance. People were given the opportunity to take a ride on the convincer. The seat belt convincer simulates a traffic crash at 10 miles per hour. We attached a slow motion video of a ride that Sarah Tanney took. Also in the video is State Farm representative Rick Rogusky. The Sheriff’s Office is planning on bringing back the seat belt convincer to the Saranac Bridge Fest and to the Ionia Fall Fest.
