The Irish film crew are on their way home and have asked me to convey a deep word of gratitude to everyone who cooperated so wholeheartedly with them in the making of their documentary on the peace movement in Gangjeong! It has been an immense learning experience for me to witness up close and personal the trials and tribulations of so many villagers and activists who have sacrificed so much as part of the brave non violent resistance against the naval base! I personally feel very privileged to have been afforded an amazing insight into the livelihoods of the villagers and to have had the opportunity to listen to how the naval base is adversely impacting their daily lives and how it has literally turned the once close knit community upside down! Yet and in spite of the police state taking over their village they remain resolute in their struggle to reclaim their village and to shout all the louder NO NAVAL BASE! Im confident the Irish film crew will help them share this message while revealing to the world the beauty and charm that is the village of Gangjeong! Thank you!
