* The JAYSUS WEPT AWARD * (Weekend 10/11/2013) A headline in todays Irish Independent reads, Health spending needs further cuts after bailout, warns troika. My question; What section of the Health Service, or whats left of it, can be cut any further? Doctors and nurses, health care frontline workers, ambulance corps? They are stretched past breaking point already, struggling to provide a reasonable level of care against a backdrop of political messing and pandering. But you may be sure that those cuts will come! Kenny and his government of heartless cowards will find room for the cuts because Europe says so. Patient care will suffer, people will die, services will close, but not one politician, banker or bondholder will chip a nail. Anglo Bankers will still laugh at us from golf clubs and top restaurants. Wankers with foreign accents will call for deeper austerity for the Irish People even after the blackmail ....err... bailout has been exited. Politicians will still receive (not earn, mind you!) the same vulgar wages, expenses and pension packages, then drift off to cosy positions in the Fourth Reich. And know what? It will happen! It will happen for one very sure reason. That reason? Because we will allow it. In that same piece in the Irish Independent, Columbia University Professor Joseph Stiglitz, described our ability to deal with the pain without taking to the streets and rioting like our neighbours in southern Europe as akin to religious ideology. * (Quote from the piece) He has never been a fan of austerity and the former chief economist at the World Bank has voiced his views in the past. Yes, you will get back to where you were... but it will be a lost decade, at least, he said. * The OCTHIPA Page has ran here on FB for well over a year now, and every time there is a mention of a Protest, Rally or Opposing Meeting, people have complained or given every reason under the sun why they wouldnt attend. Here are a few excuses: * Whats the point in holding protests on Saturday? * * Whats the use in marching? Sure they dont listen to us anyway! * * Sure, that march will be hijacked by (insert name or group)! * In actual fact, ALL of these excuses, and the many, many more I have read here, can be translated as, Its not affecting me, so why should I bother getting off my lazy arse to support those it is affecting? Oh yes, the Irish Politicians have it made. They can do absolutely whatever they like, make whatever decision they like. There will be no slap back, no refusals. They can get away with murder, as can literally be seen in our health service. As a consequence, the laughing hyenas in Europe can name their price, demand what they want, pat our imbecile politicians on the head and give them mock awards in return for compliance. And those of us who do not protest allow this! To those of you who facilitated this Lost Decade, let me ask you the following; When your children ask you why they have to live abroad to work, can you explain it without shame? When your relatives die or suffer needlessly in our hospitals, can you tell them their sacrifice was for a good cause? When the ghosts of our forefathers come back to haunt us, those who died to deliver this nation from the same shite we are facilitating now, can you look them in the eye?
