The Jesuit Refugee Service supported with technical expertise of the Syria Trust for Development is working on rehabilitation of wells in Homs. The project includes cleaning and rehabilitating old wells and providing them with modern pumps and tanks. Communal taps were also installed to guarantee free and easy access to water for all. 11 of the Wells are inside the Old City section of Homs, some of them are in Churches, Mosques, and many of them are potable. High technology filtering systems were installed where needed. Considering the dryness that hit the eastern rural areas of Homs, which caused depletion in water resources, two more wells were rehabilitated in the villages of Maskaneh and Al-Alyieat. Jesuit Refugee Service asks all returnees and habitants of Old City of Homs especially to benefit of those wells, and would like to invite them to participate in keeping the safety and functionality of those equipements. Jesuit Refugee Service hopes they participate in guaranteeing fair distribution of this essential substance by taking their need without excessing, so this service would reach the maximum number of people in need.
