The Juniata Valley Striders had an outstanding day at the Mid-Atlantic Cross Country Championships (Delaware, South New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania) in Philadelphia on Saturday. 16 individuals qualified for the USATF Region 2 Cross Country Championship Meet on November 24th at Cooper’s Lake, Pennsylvania. Isaac Curry (under 8), Justice Sheaffer (8) , Noah Shepherd (9-10), and Garrett Baublitz (11-12) won their Age Groups, Alyssa Lynch (9-10) was second, Alexus Hartman 3rd (13-14) , Chase Sheaffer 4th (11-12), and Riley Myers (9-10) 5th in their age groups. In the 11-12 boys featured race All-Americans Ezekiel Dawkins, Evan Serafin and Juniata Valley’s own, Garrett Baublitz ran very fast times with Baublitz breaking the Belmont Plateau Course record in 11:09.42. Juniata Valley’s Chase Sheaffer wasn’t far back of Serafin in 4th place. In the 8 and under races Juniata Valley dominated with Justice Sheaffer running away from the girls and beating all the boys. Isaac Curry won the Under 8 Division. In the Boys 9-10 Division, Noah Shepherd won beating St. Janes’ highly touted Ryan Kothstein and National finalist, Nick Toochheck.
