The Keelty report recommends the total privatisation of prisons in Queensland. Newman is planning to follow all recommendations. Queensland already has 20 % of its prison population in private corrections. That compares to around 15 % in the United Kingdom and dwarfs the 8% of the prison population in the birthplace of private prisons, the United States.
