The Kids4Trees program, in partnership with the Los Angeles Conservation Corps, is now being organized for 24 elementary schools within the Los Angeles Unified School District thanks to a CALFIRE Urban Community Forestry Education matching grant. In awarding the grant, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection wrote: Your project was thoroughly reviewed a nd found to be among the best of the bestf o{ advancing urban forestry in California. The programs, presented throughout the remainder of 2013 through 2015, will focus on elementary schools throughout the LAUSD and include 15 minute rotating workshops covering forestry, climate change, soil/water, recycling/litter, wildlife, and on-campus tree planting with partners Million Trees LA, the U.S. Forest Service Southern California Consortium, U.S. and California EPA, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Board of Public Works Waste Recycling, City of LA Urban Forestry Division, and Fuego Tech Rangers.
