The LORD is my shepherd, he will provide for me. No one can trust Gods providence until they distrust themselves. I say to myself, I am wise above any teachings and I can manage my own interests. In my own esteem I rule my own purposes, and I have the power to accomplish my intentions, and then if I get into trouble I can fix the mess I have gotten myself in life. In life I believe I can steer my own ship between the Scylla and Charybdis - between the devil and the deep blue sea and have it easy all my life. But, if I reflect soberly, I am a fool not to trust God and take advantage of his loving guidance. I am a roaring lion only seeking to destroy. In order to be in Gods Kingdom I have to be transformed into a docile sheep. God has to be my Shepherd. He has to lead me like a dumb animal and make his rod a comfort to me if I wander off.
