The LORD said, I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. Im an ardent advocate of keeping scriptures within context - The LORD speaks this concerning His people captive in Egypt. However, God does not change - His people in every generation can rest in this because God always has His ear open to His children - listening for their cries - His people were complaining because of their slave drivers. Were complaining this morning for the same reason. The white plantation owners that had been kicked out through the faithful cries and actions of our ancestors have returned to set up slave trade. But is it their fault it was so easy? From the movie J Edgar we get the oft quoted line: When morals decline, and good men do nothing, evil flourishes. The society unwilling to learn from past is doomed. We must never forget our history. We must never lower our guard. There are many people who have fled the institutional church complaining/crying out because of the injustices and hypocrisy of people who claim to love God but dont want anything to do with His standard of holiness. The church cannot escape culpability for the election results of yesterday. Weve trampled the standard of our God - calling that which is evil good - upholding sin by raising the banner high - You cant judge me - well it looks like we are all judged now - and we must endure the conditions that our forefathers/good moral men and women fought to eradicate and I dont think we as a people have the same convictions and strength - but all is not lost. There is a Name - Your Name is a strong and mighty tower - Your Name is a shelter like no other Your Name, let the nations sing it louder - Cause nothing has the power to save But Your Name Jesus, in Your Name we pray - Come and fill our hearts today Lord, give us strength to live for You and glorify Your Name Your Name is a strong and mighty tower - Your Name is a shelter like no other Your Name, let the nations sing it louder - Cause nothing has the power to save but Your Name
