The LaVerkin Police Department would like to wish a Happy Holiday - TopicsExpress

The LaVerkin Police Department would like to wish a Happy Holiday Season to all. It is a seaon of giving and unfortunately one of taking too. Statitically we see an increase in property crimes around this time of year, specifically thefts and burglaries. Although we are working vigilantly to stop these criminal acts, we encourage citizens to take actions to protect themselves. Most of these crimes are those of oppurtunity which can be reduced through simple preventative acts which are listed below. 1.Please remember to lock your home and vehicles at all times. It is recommended you do not leave your keys, purse, wallet or other valuables in your vehicle while unattended. If you need to leave these items behind, remember to make an effort to conceal them so you are not inviting or enticing criminal activity. Criminals typically prey on the easiest target. 2. Help us protect you by being aware of what is going on around you and your neighborhood. Contact the police regarding any suspicious persons or activity you see. We are grateful for the citizens that come forward and get involved in the community. 3. Stolen property is often difficult to recover. If possible, keep a personal record of your belongings including serial numbers or unique identifiers which would aid in identifying and recovering your property. We would also like to ask for your assistance in looking after your neighbors that may be single or elderly as it gets colder and the Holiday Season approaches.
