The Last Email from the account of Sister Ida Sala Dear - TopicsExpress

The Last Email from the account of Sister Ida Sala Dear All, On March 6 this Thursday noon at 12:20, our beloved Sr Ida Sala has passed away. You receive this sorrowful e-mail because youre on Sr Idas contact list. That puts us together, however distantly or intimately associated, with the Canossians, and Sr Ida herself. Sr Ida has been sending and receiving e-mails for the past decade, and she enjoyed every moments of it. It is her only connection to the outside world, after being remanded to a wheelchair. You will notice from her e-mails the changes into large font sizes, more frequent typos, or even wrong addresses, that her eyesight was deteriorating quickly. And her hearing aid failed more often than her ears. Sr Ida may leave different impressions upon each of us. Yet one thing is certain, in her own words, that because I am firm. It is in her upbringing to be exact, and to be truthful. She knew that the moment was coming. In the past few months, her visitors would notice two things, fait accompli and memento mori. Her fulfilling smile after she ascertained that what we have asked of her has been satisfactorily accomplished. And her remark which now sounds like announcement that One day I will go suddenly. No one can live forever. During her last few days, she suffered from minor physical discomfort, and remained in bed. Talking about the Canossian girls, she said I am proud of you all. You should keep on doing good deeds. On March 6, when the moment came, she asked the sisters to leave, saying I want to have some peace. And she did have it, everlasting peace. There will be a Memorial Service at the Sacred Heart Canossian Chapel the coming Monday (March 10) at 2:30pm. This is time to say goodbye to Sr Ida. She remains peaceful and beautiful. This is the last e-mail you will receive from this account. Memento Mori, and God bless
