The Left makes a big deal of Obama having studied Constitutional law; and although that may be true, it was not for the same reason you or I would have done so. Obama himself said that he wants to, “fundamentally transform America.” [Definition from Encarta: Fundamentally: Relating to or affecting the underlying principles or structure of something]. Well, it just so happens that the “underlying principles or structure” of America is its Constitution. Therefore, one cannot “fundamentally transform” America without first “fundamentally transforming” the Constitution. That’s what I believe Obama and his Leftist lackeys are attempting to do. However, they know that any outright attempt to do away with the Constitution in one-fell-swoop would be met by resistance of the highest order on all fronts. No, it must be done gradually, by chipping away, bit by bit, until the authority of the Constitution itself is questioned. That is why the Left refers to the US Constitution as a “living document”; one that needs to be “updated” to reflect the times. Remember also that the Founders put language into the various oaths (public servants, military) to protect and defend the Constitution against both foreign AND domestic enemies. Why? Because they knew, the day would come that some two-bit, banana-republic-thinking, redistributionist, tyrannical, would-be dictator would rise to power in America. The Constitution is our legal protection from such an eventuality going unchallenged. Considering that, it only makes sense that Obama would wage an all-out war on that document.
