The Literature Department, The Dean of Humanities and Arts, The Dean for faculty Equity, The Writing Program, and Ethnic Studies Department Present: A Reading by Creek and Cherokee Writer- Eddie Chuculate November 19, 2013 1:00-3:00pm Literature Building Room 155 (de Certeau) Eddie Chuculate, Muscogee (Creek) and Cherokee, was born in Claremore, Okla., and considers Muskogee, Okla., his hometown. Hes the author of Cheyenne Madonna, a collection of short stories published by Black Sparrow Books, the legendary imprint of David R. Godine, Publisher, in Boston. Hes a 2013 graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop at the University of Iowa, and also held a Wallace Stegner creative writing fellowship at Stanford University. In addition to his masters degree, he holds an associate degree from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. He won an O. Henry Prize for his short story, Galveston Bay, 1826, which was selected by juror Ursula K. Le Guin as her favorite in the collection.
