The Luxembourg Income Study Database reported some interesting statistics. Apparently, the American middle class, formerly the envy of the world, is not so enviable anymore. It seems that Canadian middle class income has grown by 20%+, while ours has stagnated from 2000 to 2010. Workers in surprisingly lower income countries have better wages than we do. If our minimum wage, which has risen very infrequently due to republican blocking, had kept pace with inflation, it would be $22.00 an hour, about what Costco pays its employees. Republicans, if they get majority in both houses, would immediately try to reduce, or eliminate entirely, minimum wage altogether. Other countries also have better workplace benefits for everyone, including up to a month of paid leave off for every employee, with more time off for tenured employees. Our country has no federal guarantees to any paid time off. These are provable facts, not a leftwing nutjob rant. One of the first things i learned counseling battered women, is that they are trained to believe they deserve the mistreatment ( ie, I guess I should have had dinner on the table when he got home, he was right to punish me). Corporations, which have the money and power to build or change social viewpoints, ie fox entertainment news, are the Great Manipulators that make non thinking people believe that they should be happy with $7.25 an hour, no paid time off, switched to part time, and no health insurance.... These corporations take great pains to steal from you, steal the increases in pay you deserve, steal time away from your family, and overpay the few at the top. If youre still reading this ( doubtful if you are conservative) why are conservatives so vehemently protecting these manipulators? Probably due to the same reason women dont leave a wife beater...., which, in this case, is true....they DO deserve it!
