The Malthusians amongst us think well kill ourselves through over-population. Only one thing wrong with that sentiment: the West along with Japan will kill itself through tanking economies brought on by shrinking populations. Trends like these show how easily modernity and materialism can hide essential truths. Most folks think having less people around to feed is a good thing. Maybe that might be true in India and China, but it most certainly isnt true of Europe and North America. Aomg the hidden financial land mines in a declining birthrate will be far less tax revenues to run government. That may please those who think that a good thing, but elation will be short-lived. Roads will fall into disrepair. Defense budgets will be shriven. Public education will become even less funded than it is presently, and the countrys ability to compete with surging economies like the Chinese or Indias will be severely compromised. You heard it here first. Trojans are unpatriotic.
