The Man Who Fell to Earth 1976, based on the novel by Walter Tevis, screenplay by Paul Mayersberg, and directed by Nicolas Roeg technically falls into the Sci- Fi category, but Im placing it right here because in my mind it fits. Starring the ever fantastic David Bowie as Thomas Jerome Newton, an alien who comes to earth seeking water for his dying planet. In need of money to build a craft in order to return to his home planet Newton starts a high profile technology company, earns the affections of a human woman played by Candy Clark, develops a little friendship with a gentleman played by none other than Rip Torn, and also gets a hard lesson in the lack of compassion that plagues the human race. An old, fun favorite.
