Kenney, who plays out of the National Golf Club of Canada in Woodbridge, scored the win on the third playoff hole at the picturesque 7151 yard Doug Carrick designed course. Bill Walsh, Young Woo Kim and Eddie Maunder tied for 4th with a 3 under par 69. There was also a three way tie for 7th place with David Crawford, Nic Mazze and Danny King, all coming in at 2 under par. King, who was the leader after 9 holes at 4 under par, lost ground on the back nine shooting a 2 over par to end the day at 70. Kenney, who is in his 6th year as pro, closed out the front nine with playing partners Eric Ross and James Seymour, with a solid 3 under par. Kenney, who struck the ball well all day, played bogey-free golf throughout his round and the 3-hole playoff. On the first hole of the playoff, Kenney made a great chip shot out of a deep bunker, to go up and down for the birdie, sending the players to eighteen and the second playoff hole. Rondeau, on the second playoff hole, had an opportunity to win the day but his ten foot putt lipped the cup setting up a third playoff hole challenge on a return to the first hole. Both Rondeau and Kenney hit the fairway on their drives. Rondeau was long and to the right on his second shot, and was able to punch it out of the rough and over the green on his third. Rondeau secured his par with a solid up and down, leaving the door open for his opponent. Kenney’s second shot hit the deep right bunker, but he was able to splash it to within 20 feet of the cup, setting up a birdie attempt and a chance to win the day. Kenney, who was solid with his putter all day, powered in into the heart for his first Mandarin Tour Championship trophy, and $1400 of the $5200 player purse. “The greens were great”, said a jubilant Kenney.
