The March 10th issue of BusinessWeek, has an interesting article on the pollution in China. Beijing was recently recorded at 16 times the acceptable health limit. They are concerned the smog is so thick, it is blocking the sun and affecting the food supply. There are plenty of suggested restrictions in the parliament to rectify the problem; however, two industries which account for 37 times the average pollution and 30 times the average are run by extremely wealthy men who are very well connected in the parliament and able to block the regulations. Their coal factories keep belching and they keep paying off the government officials. How do you say Koch Brothers in Chinese?
