Wed love to share with you some of the growers that are involved in supplying the produce in The Market Shed Certified Organic Fruit & Veg stall. We will keep you updated and introduce these growers to you. Most are local but of course, mangoes, pineapples, bananas, coconuts etc arent grown in South Australia but we are all certified organic and some other produce are not available locally at certain times in SA. Today we are profiling MANGOES FROM CHARMAINE CARTER. Nestled in a beautiful part of the Northern Territory, about 70 km south of Darwin you will find their farm. They have been certified organic by NASAA for the last 6 to 7 years. Wayne Kinbacher and Charmaine Carter have managed the farm for 10 years. The farm was established 20 years ago by Waynes parents, Noel and Betty Kinbacher. Their organic farm is very rewarding with the produce being chemical free and very tasty. They have 250 Kensington Pride trees and 100 R2E2 trees and along with other organic growers in the area they decided to construct their own packing shed with approved hot water dipping for organics - ICA 10. The image below is Charmaine and the girls hot water dipping the mangoes- which is the treatment that allows them to come into SA.
