The Master’s College women’s basketball team made another early exit in the NAIA Division 1 national tournament. The Lady Mustangs, ranked No. 7 in the NAIA, lost to Bethel from Tennessee, 82-67, in the first round of the NAIA tournament in Kentucky The Master’s College women lost in the first round of last year’s NAIA tournament. The Lady Mustangs finish with a 24-9 record. In high school baseball, West Ranch beat Valencia, 8-7, in the Foothill League opener for both teams. West Ranch was up 6-0 in the second inning and led 8-3 in the fifth inning. Valencia scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the West Ranch lead to one run. But West Ranch held on for the win. Jake Spurlin was 2-for-3 with a double and drove in three runs for West Ranch. Hart beat Canyon, 2-1, in their Foothill League opener. Hart scored two runs in the sixth inning to win the game. Cody Miller doubled, homered and drove in both runs for Hart. Saugus shut out Golden Valley, 1-0. Tyler Grissom scored in the third inning for the only run of the game. In the NBA, the Lakers lost to the San Antonio Spurs, 125-109, and have a three-game losing streak. The Lakers lost to the Spurs for the second time in the past six days. The Lakers have lost six of their past seven games. Next up for the Lakers are the Washington Wizards on Friday. In the NHL, the Kings are home for a game against the Washington Capitals tonight at Staples Center. The Kings are in the midst of a three-game losing streak. The Capitals are coming off a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday. Listen to the game between the Kings and the Capitals tonight on AM 1220 KHTS. The puck drops at 7:30.
