The Matt Gavin Honors Scholarship The District 218 Educational - TopicsExpress

The Matt Gavin Honors Scholarship The District 218 Educational Foundation has created a new scholarship to honor our friend and colleague Matt Gavin. Most will remember that Mr. Gavin, who taught social studies at Richards, tragically passed away last spring after a battle with cancer. Funding for his scholarship will come from two sources: Our donations and a pledge from the Foundation. Here are the details: •For every $100 donated to the scholarship fund from staff members and others, the Foundation will match it with a $100 donation. The annual cap on the Foundation commitment is $500. •The senior from Richards chosen as the top social studies student will receive the Matt Gavin Honors Scholarship of $500 at Senior Awards Night. This scholarship is new, adding to those the Foundation already funds. •If donations exceed $500, the extra money will seed the scholarship next year. •Hopefully, we will have sufficient money to present a scholarship in Matt’s name every year. The Foundation will match donations annually with the parameters listed above. •Donations to this scholarship, and the Foundation in general, are tax deductible. The Foundation is a federal 501c(3) charitable organization. •You can send your checks payable to District 218 Educational Foundation to Tina Kelly in the Business Office at the Administrative Center. Please indicate that the donation is for Matt’s scholarship. Heres the address: Tina Kelly District 218 Administrative Center 10701 S. Kilpatrick Avenue Oak Lawn, IL 60453 If you have a question, please call 708-424-2000, ext. 2570
