The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) in Dresden, Germany, released a fascinating movie demonstrating the reconstructed beating heart of a zebrafish embryo in slow motion. The video clip complements a publication of MPI-CBG researchers in this week’s Nature Methods, in which they report how they managed to capture detailed three-dimensional images of cardiac dynamics in zebrafish using optogenetics to stop the beating heart by illuminating it with light.
