The Meeting of Popes - Sunday of History, DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY - TopicsExpress

The Meeting of Popes - Sunday of History, DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY April 27th 2014 On this day, in the annals of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, history was made. There was no mistake in the title SUNDAY OF HISTORY Remarkable events: 1. For the first time in the history of the Church that two Living popes celebrated mass together in vatican. 2. For the first time two living popes jointly conferred sainthood on the faithful departed. 3. For the first time two popes were sainted on the same day. 4. For the first time an Argentine conferred sainthood (it would be recalled that Francis is the first priest from Argentina to become a pope. Pope Francis is the first Jesuit priest to become a Pope, the first Pope from the Americas, the first Pope from the Southern Hemisphere and the first non-European Pope since Pope Gregory III in 741, 1272 years earlier. Popes Benedict and Francis were both created cardinals by Pope Johnpaul II and now they Sainted the man who created them CARDINAL. 5. Invariably, saints Johnpaul II and John XXIII are the first saints to be cannonized in the current time, first saints to be cannonized by Pope francis, first saints to be sainted since the resignation of pope Benedict and indeed the first saints to be conferred by a resigned POPE! 6. Worthy of note, Pope Francis is the first to adopt FRANCIS as his papal nomenclature. 7. (Matthew 17:3) today, 4 POPES came together in union 2 living and 2 dead, 2 saints and 2 holy sees. 8. Pope Johnpaul II died in April and was sainted in April. At the transfiguration of our Lord, Elijah and Moses appear and were talking with Christ! Elijah representing the prophets where as Moses represented the Law, Christ was its grand subject - the fulfillment of both the Law and Prophets. At the sainting, The two saints represented the Triumphant church of God, the Cherubim and faithful departed while the Popes represented the Pilgrim church on earth - the living faithful. Christ was its grand subject. It all happened on a divine mercy Sunday. what is more significant, the 4 popes had something uniquely in common. They were all humble, caring for the poor and cherished peace. No wonder Johnpaul was marked the pope who shaped the 20th century Excepting pope Johnpaul who became pope at quite an early age of 58 years, the other 3 became popes at late 70s. Pope John became pope at 76years, Francis at 77 years while Benedict at 78 years! In a similar way, excepting pope John xxiii who was born in the 18th century (Nov. 1881) the others were all born in the 19th century with Johnpaul firsting in May 1920; Benedict seconding in April 1927 and Francis standing behind in Dec. 1936. Again, the two saints were both installed popes in the 19th century while the two holy fathers were both installed in the current century. Notably, Popes John xxiii, Johnpaul ii and Benedict xvi are all from Europe sharing sparing boundaries (Poland at the central, east of Germany) only Francis is from America. Again however, excepting Francis and John xxiii, Johnpaul and Benedict had something to do with the month of April, Johnpaul died in April, buried in april and cannonized in April. Benedict who succeed him was born in april and installed yet in April. Undermining uncertainties but with absolute respect for the dogma of the Catholic Church, these popes went extra miles to evangelize the world. (Mark 16:15). Johnpaul wished and worked for the unification of the faith with other religion so did John xxiii work during his time. When installed, one of the earliest things pope francis did was to embrace erring catholic priests with an intention to bridging the gap which seprate gay priests/half priests as he described them during his speech to seminarians last week and which cause was in line with the wishes of Johnpaul and John (UNITY). What could be more remarkable? Jesus is Lord!!!
