The Memorial Chamber is constructed of materials from three countries that were Canada’s allies during the First World War (1914-1918): the ceiling, walls, and columns of the Chamber are made of Chateau Gaillard stone presented by France; the altar is constructed from Hoptonwood limestone, gifted by Great Britain; And, the black marble used for the border and altar steps was donated by the people of Belgium.
