The Message bible: John 12:24-25 Listen carefully: Unless a grain of wheat is buried in the ground, dead to the world, it is never any more than a grain of wheat. But if it is buried, it sprouts and reproduces itself many times over. In the same way, anyone who holds on to life just as it is destroys that life. But if you let it go, reckless in your love, you’ll have it forever, real and eternal. The Message bible: Luke 14:33 “Simply put, if you’re not willing to take what is dearest to you, whether plans or people, and kiss it good-bye, you can’t be my disciple. Gods qualification for greatness is death to self. God qualifies greatness in His eyes by death. So, if you want to know how great you are in Gods eyes, how successful you are, how much you have achieved before God, you need to measure yourself by Gods instrument - the cross - to see how dead you are, to see how crucified you are. Well, how dead are you to self? How crucified are you? What must not live in you must die i.e sin must die and your flesh must be crucified daily. That’s what I want you to think about this morning.
