Blue Mountain Pinot Noir 2012, Okanagan Falls, $30 This is a velvety, silky-smooth wine displaying ripe raspberry, cherry, strawberry and cassis fruit aromas with hints of sweet licorice, menthol, vanilla and new leather. Delicate notes of red and black fruit, roses, violets, hints of vanilla and smoke balance a lush and rich texture. Velvety soft acidity balanced by the firm tannins on the finish, this could be aged for another 5 years. A generous wine that can stand up to a number of rich foods. Mer Soleil Chardonnay 2010, Santa Lucia Highlands, $39.90 This decadent Chardonnay offers liberal ripe pineapple, baking spice, honey and Meyer lemon underscored with orange blossom and vanilla and wrapped in butterscotch turning soft and round on the palate with accents of brioche, baked apples and vanilla. Its creamy, silky yet spicy and buttery to keep it fresh. Elijah Craig 12 year Old Small Batch Bourbon $48 A drink of stunning complexity, this small batch bourbon incredibly smooth and flavourful, with complex aromas of dark chocolate, cigar box, saddle leather, almond, marzipan, hint of caramel, oak, dried apricot and pepper that explode from the glass. The palate is equally bold with creamy toffee and honeycomb, vanilla, pepper, and dried fruit lead to a warm pleasant finish. Tin Whistle Scorpion IPA, Penticton, BC, $5.90/650ml The colour is coppery amber with a full, creamy frothy head that slowly recedes to reveal a beautiful lacing.
