The Miami Dolphins are set to visit with free agent cornerback Cortland Finnegan, according to a report. Finnegan was released by the St. Louis Rams earlier this week. According to a report from NFL Networks Albert Breer, the Miami Dolphins and free agent cornerback Cortland Finnegan will meet tomorrow. Finnegan was released at the start of free agency by the St. Louis Rams, two years into a five-year contract. Finnegan was originally a seventh round pick of the Tennessee Titans in 2006, playing 93 games, with 79 starts, over six seasons. He recorded 14 interceptions, 473 tackles, six sacks, three forced fumbles, and four recoveries. In his two years in St. Louis, FInnegan added 23 games played, 20 starts, four interceptions, 128 tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble. Prior to signing with the Rams, Finnegan had been pursued by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where current Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey was an executive in the teams front office. The fact that Miami under Hickeys direction would at least take a look at Finnegan is not surprising. Currently, Miami has Brent Grimes installed as one starter, but released Dimitri Patterson and allowed Nolan Carroll to leave in free agency, the two players who split starts on the opposite side of the field. Second-year players Jamar Taylor and Will Davis are expected to challenge for the position if no one else joins the roster.
